For a while back, Blondie 1 (B1) and I were thinking of communing with nature in the form of exercise called walking. However, on the pretext that Blondie 1 has no exercise shoes and it wasnt top priority to get them, we only commune with shopping malls (well, Pavillion KL is HUGE!) which is a much more pleasurable exercise! Anyway, after a movie one day, we thought it is about time we follow through with our intention to walk so B1 MUST buy a pair of walking shoes ! Boy, were they expensive! (spending Rm500 for a pair of sneakers is just not right! should just spend it on a nice pair of heels or something else, isnt it?) Anyway, shoes in sports shops are quite dull or too expensive so we went to Elle instead (much nicer place with more colours; obviously functionality of a pair of walking shoes lost out to the aesthetic beauty of them). The pair of sneakers at Elle's was a nice bright orange with some reds in them. B1 decided it will go well with her socks and the rest of her attire for exercise so shoes became hers and finally, we can go for walks.
Our first foray was to Putrajaya to walk at Taman Wetlands. Of course, blondies do not need maps. And of course, we couldnt find Taman Wetlands and instead found some cute Mat Sallehs wearing strawberries, blueberries cutouts on their heads and realised that there were some camera crew filming there. Putrajaya is such a happening place! Many, many rounds later and still no Taman Wetlands, we decided to go for food instead. And of course, we chose to walk on a day when Malaysia was about to face its major change in its political landscape; people were seen going out early in the morning to vote and we were seen going out early in the morning (which is a complete stretch for both of us since we only open our eyes usually at 12pm on weekends) supposedly to walk at Taman Wetlands but instead now going for food!
Found some mamak shops opposite a school and we had some nice roti canai and teh tarik. Bliss! Walking was tentatively forgotten. When we went to pay for our food, we found that we didnt have enough small change to pay the chap. A gallant gentleman behind us paid the outstanding 50 sen to the owner. Wow, malaysian guys' graph skyrocketed that morning. We walked to our car and then suddenly remembered that we still didnt know how to get to Taman Wetlands. So, I decided to trot into the shop again and ask Mr Nice Guy for direction. He looked at me blankly when I said "Taman Wetlands". Hmmm ok, well, lets try to find it ourselves again. Was driving off already when a loud continuous honking sound was heard from behind our car. We thought we were chased by some undercover cops! The driver indicated that we stop our car at the side of the road. Driver came out and walked towards us. Discovered it was Mr. Nice Guy and he was asking us again about "Apa itu Wetlands?" B1 and I looked at each other, didnt know what to think and how to answer, I mean, what the heck is the Malay translation of Taman Wetlands? tanah basah? hmmmm... well, B1 decided to enlighten him with "ada burung" (direct translation - got birds; indirect translation - could certainly mean male's appendage! :) ) hehehe... well, Mr Nice Guy definitely understood that as Taman Wetlands so all good with directions. Of course, we chose not to go to Taman Wetlands after all that and went instead to Taman Botani. It is such a beautiful place and the toilets are soooo clean and they even have toilet papers and soap there! Amazing!
We did take a leisure walk oooo-iiing and ahhhh-ing about the beautiful place and went home only after more than 18 hours out! completely knackered! We had such a wonderful time that we decided that we will must now walk every Saturday!
Till the next walk! :)
